Clopidogrel is indicated for the prevention of atherothrombotic events:

• In patients with a history of myocardial infarction (from a few days up to less than 35 days), ischemic stroke (more than 7 days and less than 6 months), or established peripheral arterial disease;

• In patients with acute coronary syndrome without ST-segment elevation (unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction), in combination with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA);

• In acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, in combination with ASA in patients treated medically and eligible for thrombolytic therapy.

Prevention of atherothrombotic and thromboembolic events in atrial fibrillation:
In adult patients with atrial fibrillation who have at least one risk factor for vascular events and who cannot be treated with a vitamin K antagonist (VKA) and have a low risk of bleeding, clopidogrel, in combination with ASA, is indicated for the prevention of atherothrombotic and thromboembolic events, including stroke.
